  • My personal cheerleader | 10 weeks 1 day ago

    James,

I feel like you are my personal cheerleader in life. You are a great listener; like the rest of the world just goes away while you are listening to me and coaching me. I know that there is not a judgemental bone in your body. I could tell you anything I have ever done or thought and I know you do not judge me. Yet at the same time you are very honest and hold me accountable.

I have so enjoyed tracking my efforts on your tracking sheet. I am not a check the box kind of person and am amazed at how much pride I take checking off things I added to my custom list like self talk, praying, reading God's word, exercise, eating healthy, and thinking positive thoughts. It has kinda turned me into my own cheerleader as well. I have gained a lot of needed confidence through your coaching and techniques.

I am really looking forward to us focusing on my purpose in life next.

Thanks for feeding me daily with your encouragement & cheering me on!

To anyone reading this, James is as "real" of a person you could ever meet, and lives life as a man after God's own heart.

Thanks for making this world we live in a better place by investing your gifts in God's people. James, you really do "knock us alive".

    Sincerely,

    Krista Tidey

“I Was Born To Win” is clearly God inspired and written in a manner for anyone ranging from young adolescence to the elderly to understand and apply to daily living. It is appealing to the secular population as well as Christian readers. James won my heart by dedicating it to his two most important women; his mother and daughter, then, humbly gave all the credit to God and the folks in his acknowledgements.

My two favorite chapters are “The Value of Giving” and “Paradigm Shifts”. Love really does cover a multitude of sins and is good for the heart. Having the ability to see life through another’s window is essential for growth and development.

James uses many people’s lives, including his own to make his points and present his information. He has a profound, unique way of explaining what seems like the most complex concepts into simple layman terms. And then makes it exciting at the same time. He has the ability to make the murkiest water crystal clear. I read his book in two days. It made me laugh, cry, and think. Most importantly, it motivated me to put his strategies to work. Whether you are tired of losing and want to win, or already winning and want to win more, this book is a priceless tool.

Thank you James for your insight, Godly wisdom, and unique gift to inspire myself and others who will read your book!

    Sincerely,

    Krista Tidey

    James,

I'm so thrilled that we connected again after the couple of years since we spoke on your radio show. It was a real pleasure to be a part of your seminar as one of your sponsors. Although the turnout wasn't as large as we had hoped, I believe that the people that attended had their fill of useful and insprational material.

Bryan Flannigan was a joy to watch and listen to. He has such a sharp wit and had some very influential things to say.

Although I've known you for a few years now, this was the first time I had the pleasure of seeing you in action. I was personally touched by the part of your talk that touched upon the "Detours" that we take in life to avoid pain. It was an epiphany of sorts for me to realize that you were describing my life to a tee!

More people need to hear what you have to say and we need to work together to get that word out.

    Congratulations on your sucesses.

    Respectfully,

    Hello James

You impressed me at your seminar and that is hard
to do. I don't know exactly why, but I felt a connection with you, even
though we only talked for a minute. Your presentation really started me
thinking about where I am, not only in my business, but more importantly
in my Life. You hit the nail right on the head with staying in the
conscious pain to avoid the unconscious pain.

    Iam just
starting on chapter three in your book and so far the book is fantastic.
I love you Wishlist and this sentence from chapter two - "If the
wishlist has to come before winning we will loose every time"

    For
those of you who are wondering what the Wishlist is, get the book. You
will be glad that you did. In my opinion it is worth way more that the
    cost of purchase.

James, I look forward to getting to know you
    better.

    God Bless

    Dear James:

I just to have to point something out to you.

Maybe it's because of my 23 years clean & sober in recovery, but I just could not get over the association I made to your logo with the water glass and DWI on it. I'm not suggesting an negative impression, just an interesting choice on your part.

Before I investigtgated your site further to get the association, I was convinced this was a series on someone's legal consequences of a DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) and perhaps coming to terms with their alcoholism!

In my mind it made perfect sense with 'born to win' and "learning to live life on life's terms" as is suggested when confronting addictions.

I still worry about how I think sometimes...

    Thanks for all you do!

    Grateful Al

I just wanted to give an update on my life coaching with James.  In a previous testimony I was battling trying to stay positive and enjoying my life.  Well the reason I was even struggling with this was I was in a relationship with a man I was not happy with.  But with my low self esteem and my fear of being alone, I continued to be with him.  But through counseling I realized that there will be pain leaving a man I love but it will be worth it in the end.  I will feel better about myself and my self esteem should start to rise.

As of now, it has been three weeks since I left him.  I will be honest...IT IS PAINFUL!!  It has been a very messy breakup, emotionally I didn't think I could do it.  I wanted to go back to him several times.  My ex played awful mind games....it really has been awful.

But everytime I felt the urge to call my ex, I would call James and he was always willing to talk to me.  He also has good timing with his inspirational text messages. It would give me some hope.

Mostly James said I need to start with simple things...1) reading and listening to positive information 2) looking at myself in the mirror and doing wht he calls in his book the "self talk" 3) changing my thought process to think positive 4) pray.  I am not a big believer in prayer (God will do as He wants is my feeling).  But the other day I found myself praying  "Lord get me through this lonely weekend-so I'm not tempted to speak to (my ex)"  It was a weekend full of family and friends and a night of guidance with James that I did not plan.  My prayer was answered.

James has me focusing on the outcome, my future, my reward for all this pain....a better way of life for me.

I've had a few sessions with James and I must admit the hardest part is trying not to let others effect my moods.  I want to stay positive and happy with my life and I believe James has found a good way to make this happen.  Its all about controlling my emotions when it comes to other people.  I will not have them controlling how I feel.

Another hard thing is finding ways to fill-what James calls-my "love tank".  Someone like me who has had deep depression, it takes alot to find things to fill it.  I still seem to find those 'quick' fills that only last a few hours.  I know James will help me find the right things to fill "it" with.

I just wanted to tell you that I went to Virginia to visit my daughter and my parents the first week of August and I gave my book to my daughter.  She is reading it and is really into it. I thought that was awesome, because that usually doesn't happen with her where she finds a book that holds her attention. She looks great. She has gained her weight back and I can tell her attitude about things are changing. I know she has a long way to go, but I really think your book is inspiring her to be a better person. I have praised this book to several people and they have bought copies. I really didn't know that I would be marketing your book, I think its kind of funny. Anyway, I thought I share that with you. Thanks. :)

    James,

I enjoy your newsletter coming into my email, and especially at this New
Year.  Among the many challenges in my life and desires to turn wishes
into accomplished goals, I was inspired to begin telling people whom I meet
daily, "You were born to win!" I started by telling my 90-years young
mother this morning and it made her countenance light up instantly.  She
decided to say it back to me.  That is how I am able to win in 2009: by
telling everyone else that they were born to win.

    Thanks for the inspiration.

I commend James Smith for writing AND publishing this book himself. The
book is a definite read for anyone who loves inspirational, positive
literature that makes one stop and take stock of their lives. It has
the ability to move one forward when stuck in a rut, and to push those
who are already on a great path even further. Young or old, there is
something for everyone in this fine book. James captures the essence of
our being, LOVE, and shows us a path that takes us down a road of
fulfillment while also bring us to our W.I.S.H.L.I.S.T (You'll have to
read the book to see the meaning) without chasing after it. Highly
motivational and recommended reading. My congratulations to James for
