"Your opinion of others will change as your opinion of yourself
changes" - James A. Smith
.
On last week's show, Co-host, Ron, and I discussed one of
his fears, one that I believe most of us can relate to.  He
doesn't like confrontation. So much, he will allow others to
walk on him at times.

Are you allowing others to walk on you? Staying in a bad
job? How about an abusive relationship? Are your kids
tough to discipline?

Do you use justifications to avoid facing the issue? Like, "The
economy is too bad to find another job." "If I leave this relationship I have
nowhere to go or no one will want me." "My children are different."

These and many other excuses are simply manufactured by fear. We
discussed a lot about fear in our last two broadcasts. Overcome it and you will
win more than you've ever won in life!

Learn specific steps on the radio in our current series, "Winning With a
Healthy Self-image." Here's a link to
last week's shows.
Our radio show discusses the good, the clean, the pure, and the positive. If

Inspiration: Video -  By the Inch or Foot
Barbara Guerra lost both arms when she was a child. Be amazed as
you listen to her struggles then witness her achievements. Barbara
certainly had self-image barriers. I also liked the fact she mentioned
how tough it was for her mom to STOP doing everything for her
(the 12 steppers call this "enabling").

Humor: Video - A Sweet Mess
14 tons of Oreo cookies spilled from a tractor trailer in a
highway accident. The officer on site seemed to be over
loaded.

Blog: What Are You Afraid Of?
A friend of mine asked me, about four years ago, "What are you afraid of?"
I immediately responded "nothing really." Besides the typical things that
most of us may attempt to check off the list such as heights, spiders,
snakes, death, or public speaking I really felt confident with my answer - on
the surface.

The more I pondered the more I started facing some harsh reality. I must
mention, at that particular time of my life I was deeply involved in various
addictive and destructive behaviors. I was headed nowhere at full speed.

Without getting too involved, I concluded that I was afraid of loving myself
just for being me. Sounds simple and we certainly want everyone else to
love us just for who we are but I was far from doing it internally. There
were so many fears and hurts. Interestingly enough, most of the fears and
hurts were brought about because of choices I made throughout my life in
order to get other people to like me just for me. The more I tried, the more
I increased my inner fears and anger. It was like the more I tried to get
people (including myself subconsciously) to like me just for me, the more I
was unlikeable because I continued to make things worse. This cycle
became deeper and deeper until I got tired of looking in the mirror at the
same picture. Through some help from God, friends, and a lot of personal
responsibility and growth I was able to slowly increase my self-image and
conclude that I was valuable simply as being me.

Are you happy with what you see in the mirror? Until you're happy with
who you see in the mirror you will rarely be happy with anyone you see out
of the mirror. I encourage you to listen to the
two broadcasts from this past
week. We discussed the biggest fear of all. What are you afraid of? You will
obtain two tickets in our current gas give-away by posting a comment to this
