"Our self image determines our actions and our actions determine our self image" - James A. Smith

Radio: Winning With a Healthy Self-image.

Did you know your self-image determines how much income you make, how you dress, who your friends are, who you marry, and much more?

Self-image is the inner portrait you have of yourself. It's the most important image you will ever have of any human being. Fortunately, since it's "self" image we have the choice to change it if we desire. You really were born to win but you must see a winner before you will be a winner.

We started a series last week on how to win with a healthy self-image. You may listen here - Monday's radio broadcast or Thursday's radio broadcast.

Our radio show discusses the good, the clean, the pure, and the positive. If you have an issue or story that shares some positive light, or one that needs some positive light, please email radio@iwasborntowin.com or call

Inspiration: Video: Amazing Power of Love

Two men raised Christian (a pet lion) from cub to over 185lbs. After Christian became too large, they had to release him back into the wild. A year later they went to visit Christian but were warned it could be dangerous since he was now living in the wild. Was it dangerous? View the actual footage in the video below.

 Humor: Keep it Simple

The Lone Ranger and Tonto went camping in the desert. After they got their tent all set up, both men fell sound asleep. Some hours later, Tonto wakes the Lone Ranger and says, "Kemo Sabe, look towards sky; what you see?" The Lone Ranger replies, "I see millions of stars." "What that tell you?" asked Tonto.
The Lone Ranger ponders for a minute then says, "Astronomically speaking, it tells me there are millions of galaxies. Time wise, it appears to be approximately a quarter past three in the morning. Theologically, the Lord is all powerful and we are small and insignificant in comparison. Meteorologically, it seems we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What's it tell you, Tonto?"
 "Someone stole our tent."

Blog: Where Does a Poor Self-image Come From?

The self-image portrait is painted by many different things. From childhood, environment, parenting, and friends to our DNA, personality, and other factors. Ultimately, the person in charge of the brush that's doing the painting is you. Other outside factors may influence your self-image but you are the only one that allows the painted strokes to make their way to the portrait. This may put all the responsibility on you but any other way would make you a victim. And victims have little hope. Thankfully you have choices, plenty of them!

It's amazing just how powerful self-image really is. This inner portrait will control more of us than we ever realize. When I was a child my family didn't have much in the way of money or materials. I don't want to "poor mouth" you though. We did have plenty to eat and the reason I know this is because every time I passed my plate for seconds my parents would say "No, you've had plenty." So I know we had plenty!

I was always embarrassed about food stamps and waiting in line for government cheese. As I grew older I realized I wasn't able to afford the clothes or nice cars like some of the other kids. I can even remember girls breaking up with me when they learned what I drove or didn't drive.

Since I allowed outer factors to determine my inner self-image, the portrait became tainted. I spent many years trying to gain acceptance without ever realizing or knowing anything about "self-image". This is why I am very excited about this series we have just started on the radio - Winning With a Healthy Self-image. Our self-image determines our actions and our actions determine our self-image. This series will show you specific ways to increase your self-image. None of us are exempt from allowing outside factors to creep their way in. But there are many things we can choose to do in order to keep the portrait on the healthy side.

What outside factors have you allowed to affect your self-image in a negative way? You may post your reply here.
