Anonymous's picture
Description:

If there were laws that sent us to jail for not paying our debt, would people have better credit? Yes or No? Why?

James, you hit it right on the head. I also agree if you were told you would do time if you didn't pay back a loan or mtg, you would think long and hard about even getting into debt to start with. i say its no question most peoples credit would be better. an example along the lines of what you were saying, a person has a court date the see the judge, they were supposed to have a fine paid or go to jail, however it wasn't paid by court time. the judge tells them they have until tommorrow to pay it or we're coming to get you and lock you up for 60 days. what do you think that person is going to do. right he's going to beg barrow and steal to get the money before the deadline.
when I was a Realtor 10 12 years ago I could get a mtg approved for someone with no credit much easier than someone with bad credit.
not to change the subject but i think the same would be true for marriage and divorce!!
thanks for the debate

No credit vs bad credit

I'm starting to think NO credit is more "credible" than bad credit? It tells me a person only spends what they can pay for now and therefore wouldn't rely as much on credit.
